The Lord had driven out other nations to make room for Israel. But they followed the evil practices of those nations. They also followed the practices that the kings of Israel had started.

“你到了耶和华你的神要赐给你的那地的时候，那些外族人可厌可恶的事，你不可学习去行。

你们从前住过的埃及地，那里的居民的行为，你们不可随从；我要领你们到的迦南地，那里的居民的行为，你们也不可仿效。你们不可跟随他们的风俗行。

反倒跟随以色列诸王的道路，甚至焚烧他的儿子为祭，好像耶和华在以色列人面前驱逐的外族人所行可憎恶的事，

以法莲受欺压，被审判压碎；因为他们乐意随从人的命令。

亚哈斯王到大马士革会见亚述王提革拉．毗列色，看见在大马士革的祭坛。亚哈斯王就派人把祭坛的图样、结构和详尽的做法送到乌利亚祭司那里。

你跟随了暗利的规例和亚哈家一切所行的，顺从了他们的计谋；因此，我必使你荒凉，使你（“你”原文作“她”）的居民被嗤笑；你们也必担当我民的羞辱。

王打定了主意，就做了两个金牛犊，对众民说：“以色列人哪，你们上耶路撒冷去实在够了。看哪，这是你们的神，就是从埃及地领你们上来的那位。”

耶和华这样说：“你们不要学习列国的行径，列国因天象惊惶，你们却不要因这些惊惶。

他按照耶和华在以色列人面前赶走的亚摩利人所行的一切，跟从偶像。行了非常可憎的事。

（因为在你们以前住在那地的人，行了这一切可憎的事，就玷污了自己）；免得你们玷污那地，那地就把你们吐出去，像吐出了在你们以前的各民族一样。无论什么人，行了一件这些可憎的事，必从自己的族人中被剪除。所以你们要谨守我的吩咐，免得你们行那些可憎的风俗，就是你们以前的人所行的，玷污了自己。我是耶和华你们的神。”

他行耶和华看为恶的事，好像耶和华在以色列人面前赶走的民族所行的可憎恶的事。

反而和外族人混居杂处，学习他们的风俗习惯。

亚哈犯了尼八的儿子耶罗波安所犯的罪，还以为是小事。他又娶了西顿王谒巴力的女儿耶洗别作妻子，去服事巴力，敬拜巴力。他在撒玛利亚建筑巴力庙，又在庙里为巴力立了一座祭坛。亚哈又做了亚舍拉，亚哈所行的，惹耶和华以色列的神发怒，比他以前所有的以色列王更厉害。

连犹大人也不持守耶和华他们的神的吩咐，随从以色列人所行的习俗。

那时，你要自己谨慎，不可在他们从你的面前被消灭以后，随从他们的恶俗而陷入网罗，也不可求问他们的神，说：‘这些国的人怎样事奉他们的神，我也要这样行。’你不可向耶和华你的神这样行，因为耶和华恨恶的一切可厌恶的事，他们都向他们的神行了，甚至把自己的儿女用火焚烧，献给他们的神。
