Finally, the king of Assyria captured Samaria. It was in the ninth year of Hoshea. The king of Assyria took the Israelites away from their own land. He sent them off to Assyria. He made some of them live in Halah. He made others live in Gozan on the Habor River. And he made others live in the towns of the Medes.

The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.”

Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods— gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.

Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.”

See, I will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold.

The Lord will drive you and the king you set over you to a nation unknown to you or your ancestors. There you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone.

At the end of three years the Assyrians took it. So Samaria was captured in Hezekiah’s sixth year, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel.The king of Assyria deported Israel to Assyria and settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River and in towns of the Medes.

A dire vision has been shown to me: The traitor betrays, the looter takes loot. Elam, attack! Media, lay siege! I will bring to an end all the groaning she caused.

Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the Lord, whose name is God Almighty.

I myself will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled.I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins.

You will perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will devour you.

After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time— if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God and arousing his anger,I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed.The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the Lord will drive you.There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.

I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused the Lord’s anger by making Asherah poles.And he will give Israel up because of the sins Jeroboam has committed and has caused Israel to commit.”

Then the Lord said,“ Call him Lo- Ammi( which means“ not my people”), for you are not my people, and I am not your God.

Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

Gomer conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the Lord said to Hosea,“ Call her Lo- Ruhamah( which means“ not loved”), for I will no longer show love to Israel, that I should at all forgive them.
