Even while these people were worshiping the Lord, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.

They worshiped the Lord. But at the same time, they served the statues of their gods. And to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do what their people before them did.

So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images. Their children did likewise, and their children’s children— as their fathers did, so they do to this day.

So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.

They feared the LORD but also served their idols. Still today, their children and grandchildren continue doing as their ancestors did.

还有那些在屋顶拜天上万象的，那些敬拜耶和华指着他起誓，却又指着米勒公起誓的；

“一个人不能服侍两个主；他不是恨这个爱那个，就是重这个轻那个。你们不能又服侍神，又服侍玛门。”

以利亚近前来对众百姓说：“你们心持二意要到几时呢？如果耶和华是神，就当顺从耶和华；如果是巴力，就当顺从巴力。”百姓一言不答。

他们惧怕耶和华，却从他们中间立丘坛的祭司，在丘坛的庙中为他们献祭。他们惧怕耶和华，但又事奉自己的神明，从何邦迁来，就随从那里的风俗，

“现在你们要敬畏耶和华，诚心诚意事奉他，除掉你们列祖在大河那边和在埃及事奉的神明，事奉耶和华。若你们认为事奉耶和华不好，今日就可以选择所要事奉的：是你们列祖在大河那边所事奉的神明，或是你们所住这地亚摩利人的神明呢？至于我和我家，我们必定事奉耶和华。”百姓回答说：“我们绝不离弃耶和华去事奉别神。因为耶和华—我们的神曾领我们和我们的祖宗从埃及地为奴之家出来，在我们眼前行了那些大神迹，并在我们所行的一切路上，和所经过的各民族中保护了我们。耶和华又把各民族和住此地的亚摩利人都从我们面前赶出去。所以，我们也必事奉耶和华，因为他是我们的神。”约书亚对百姓说：“你们不能事奉耶和华，因为他是神圣的神，是忌邪的神，必不赦免你们的过犯罪恶。你们若离弃耶和华去事奉外邦的神明，耶和华在降福之后，必转而降祸给你们，把你们灭绝。”

我知道你的行为，你也不冷也不热；我巴不得你或冷或热。既然你如温水，也不冷也不热，我要从我口中把你吐出去。

犹大和便雅悯的敌人听说被掳归回的人为耶和华—以色列的神建造殿宇，就去见所罗巴伯和族长，对他们说：“请让我们与你们一同建造，因为我们也与你们一样寻求你们的神。自从亚述王以撒‧哈顿带我们上这地的日子以来，我们常向神献祭。”但所罗巴伯、耶书亚和其余以色列的族长对他们说：“我们建造神的殿与你们无关，因为我们要照波斯王居鲁士所吩咐的，自己为耶和华—以色列的神协力建造。”
