The people of Samaria are still stubborn. They continue in their old practices to this day. And now they don’t even worship the Lord. They don’t follow his directions and rules. They don’t obey his laws and commands. The Lord had given all these laws to the family of Jacob. He gave the name Israel to Jacob.

To this day they do according to the former manner. They do not fear the Lord, and they do not follow the statutes or the rules or the law or the commandment that the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel.

And this is still going on today. They continue to follow their former practices instead of truly worshiping the Lord and obeying the decrees, regulations, instructions, and commands he gave the descendants of Jacob, whose name he changed to Israel.

They are still observing the former practices to this day. None of them fear the LORD or observe the statutes and ordinances, the law and commandments that the LORD had commanded the descendants of Jacob, whom he had given the name Israel.

To this day they act in accordance with the earlier customs: they do not fear the Lord, nor do they follow their statutes, their ordinances, the Law, or the commandments which the Lord commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He named Israel.

To this day they continue practicing the former rituals; they do not fear the Lord, nor do they follow their statutes or their ordinances, or the law and commandment which the Lord had commanded the children of Jacob, whom He named Israel,

Unto this day they do after the former manner: they fear not Jehovah, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law or after the commandment which Jehovah commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

Then the man said,“ Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

God said to him,“ Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.” So he named him Israel.

But now you tell me to go to my master and say,‘ Elijah is here.’

They worshiped the Lord, but they also served their own gods in accordance with the customs of the nations from which they had been brought.

“ Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the Lord and invoke the God of Israel— but not in truth or righteousness—

When they first lived there, they did not worship the Lord; so he sent lions among them and they killed some of the people.

Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying,“ Your name shall be Israel.”

There he set up an altar and called it El Elohe Israel.

Then the king of Assyria gave this order:“ Have one of the priests you took captive from Samaria go back to live there and teach the people what the god of the land requires.”So one of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria came to live in Bethel and taught them how to worship the Lord.

Then he said to Jeroboam,“ Take ten pieces for yourself, for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ See, I am going to tear the kingdom out of Solomon’s hand and give you ten tribes.
