現在我降旨，我所統轄全國的人民，都要在但以理的神面前戰兢畏懼。因為他是活的神，永遠長存，他的國度永不敗壞，他的權柄永存無極！

萬國的王啊，誰不敬畏你？敬畏你本是合宜的；列國所有的智慧人中，在他們一切的國度裏，都沒有能與你相比的。

因為耶和華以約旦河作我們和你們呂便人、迦得人的交界，所以你們在耶和華裏無份。』這樣，你們的子孫就使我們的子孫不再敬畏耶和華了。

「我命定四樣災害臨到他們，就是刀劍殺戮、羣狗拖拉、空中的飛鳥和地上的走獸吞吃毀滅。這是耶和華說的。

我若使惡獸經過那地，大肆蹂躪，使地荒涼，以致因這些獸，人都不得經過；

他說：「我是希伯來人，我敬畏耶和華，天上的神，他創造了滄海和陸地。」

因此，林中的獅子必害死他們，野地的狼必滅絕他們，豹子在城外窺伺。凡出城的必被撕碎，因為他們的罪過極多，背道的事也增加。

「主耶和華如此說：我若將這四樣大災，就是刀劍、饑荒、惡獸、瘟疫降在耶路撒冷，將人與牲畜從其中剪除，豈不是更嚴重嗎？

於是有一個從撒瑪利亞擄去的祭司回來，住在伯特利，教導他們怎樣敬畏耶和華。

神人就去了，在路上有隻獅子遇見他，把他咬死。他的屍體倒在路上，驢站在屍體旁邊，獅子也站在屍體旁邊。

他轉過身來瞪着他們，奉耶和華的名詛咒他們。於是有兩隻母熊從林中出來，撕裂他們當中的四十二個孩童。

他就對那人說：「你既不聽從耶和華的話，看哪，你一離開我，必有獅子咬死你。」那人一離開他，果然遇見獅子，把他咬死了。
