現在我降旨曉諭我所統轄的全國人民，要在但以理的神面前，戰兢恐懼。因為他是永遠長存的活神，他的國永不敗壞；他的權柄永存無極！

萬國的王啊，誰不敬畏你？敬畏你本是合宜的；因為在列國的智慧人中，雖有政權的尊榮，也不能比你。

因為耶和華把約旦河定為我們和你們這呂便人、迦得人的交界，你們與耶和華無分了。』這樣，你們的子孫就使我們的子孫不再敬畏耶和華了。

耶和華說：「我命定四樣害他們，就是刀劍殺戮、狗類撕裂、空中的飛鳥，和地上的野獸吞吃毀滅；

我若使惡獸經過糟踐那地，使地荒涼，以致因這些獸，人都不得經過；

他說：「我是希伯來人。我敬畏耶和華－那創造滄海旱地之天上的神。」

因此，林中的獅子必害死他們；晚上的豺狼必滅絕他們；豹子要在城外窺伺他們。凡出城的必被撕碎；因為他們的罪過極多，背道的事也加增了。

主耶和華如此說：「我將這四樣大災－就是刀劍、饑荒、惡獸、瘟疫降在耶路撒冷，將人與牲畜從其中剪除，豈不更重嗎？

於是有一個從撒馬利亞擄去的祭司回來，住在伯特利，指教他們怎樣敬畏耶和華。

他就去了，在路上有個獅子遇見他，將他咬死，屍身倒在路上，驢站在屍身旁邊，獅子也站在屍身旁邊。

他回頭看見，就奉耶和華的名咒詛他們。於是有兩個母熊從林中出來，撕裂他們中間四十二個童子。

他就對那人說：「你既不聽從耶和華的話，你一離開我，必有獅子咬死你。」那人一離開他，果然遇見獅子，把他咬死了。
