现在我下令，我所统治的全国人民都要在但以理的神面前战兢恐惧。“他是永活的神，他永远长存；他的国度永不灭亡，他的统治直到永远。

万国的王啊！谁敢不敬畏你呢？这是你应得的。因为在列国所有的智慧人中，以及在他们的全国里，没有可以跟你相比的。

流本人和迦得人啊，耶和华定了约旦河作我们和你们中间的疆界；你们与耶和华无分了。’这样，你们的子孙就使我们的子孙不再敬畏耶和华了。

我要命定四种刑罚对付他们，就是刀剑杀戮，尸体被野狗拖走，被空中的飞鸟和地上的走兽吞吃与毁灭。”这是耶和华的宣告。

如果我使猛兽经过那地，蹂躏那地，使它荒凉，以致因为这些兽的缘故，没有人敢经过；

他回答说：“我是希伯来人，我敬畏耶和华天上的神，就是那创造海洋和陆地的。”

因此，狮子必从林中出来袭击他们，旷野的豺狼要杀害他们，豹子在他们的城边窥伺，出城的都必被撕碎；因为他们的过犯众多，背道的事也无法数算。

主耶和华这样说：“我打发刀剑、饥荒、猛兽和瘟疫这四样可怕的刑罚临到耶路撒冷，要把人和牲畜从那里剪除的时候，那情况岂不更严重吗？

于是从撒玛利亚被掳来的祭司中，有一个回去，住在伯特利，教导他们怎样敬畏耶和华。

他就去了；在路上有一只狮子遇见了他，就把他咬死了。他的尸体被丢在路上，驴子站在尸体旁边，狮子也站在尸体旁边。

以利沙回头看着他们，奉耶和华的名咒诅他们。于是有两只母熊从树林里走出来，撕裂了他们中间四十二个年轻人。

他就对那人说：“因为你不听从耶和华的话，你一离开我，就必有狮子咬死你。”那人一离开他，果然遇见了狮子，把他咬死。
