They forsook all the commands of the Lord their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal.

They turned away from all the commands of the Lord their God. They made two statues of gods for themselves. The statues were shaped like calves. They made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. They bowed down to all the stars. And they worshiped the god named Baal.

And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.

They rejected all the commands of the Lord their God and made two calves from metal. They set up an Asherah pole and worshiped Baal and all the forces of heaven.

又恐怕你向天舉目，看見耶和華－你的神為天下萬民所擺列的日月星辰，就是天上的萬象，就被誘惑去敬拜它們，事奉它們。

他重新建築他父親希西家所毀壞的丘壇，又為巴力築壇，造亞舍拉，效法以色列王亞哈所行的，敬拜天上的萬象，事奉它們。

亞哈又造亞舍拉，他所做的惹耶和華－以色列的神發怒，比他以前所有的以色列王更嚴重。

他事奉巴力，敬拜它，惹耶和華－以色列的神發怒，正如他父親一切所行的。

他甚至廢了他祖母瑪迦太后的位，因瑪迦造了可憎的亞舍拉。亞撒砍下她的偶像，在汲淪溪邊燒了，

於是國中的眾百姓都到巴力廟去，拆毀了廟，徹底打碎祭壇和偶像，又在壇前把巴力的祭司瑪坦殺了。耶何耶大祭司派官員看守耶和華的殿，

製造偶像的人盡都虛空，他們所喜悅的全無益處；偶像的見證人毫無所見，毫無所知，以致他們羞愧。誰製造神像，鑄造偶像？這些都是無益的。

亞倫從他們手裏接過來，用模子塑造它，把它鑄成一頭牛犢。他們就說：「以色列啊，這是領你出埃及地的神明！」

散佈在太陽、月亮和天上眾星之下，就是他們從前所喜愛、所事奉、所隨從、所求問、所敬拜的。這些骸骨不被收殮，不被埋葬，必在地面上成為糞土。

有火在他們黨中點燃，有火焰燒燬了惡人。他們在何烈山造了牛犢，叩拜鑄成的像，將他們榮耀的主換為吃草之牛的像，

在各高岡上、各青翠樹下立柱像和亞舍拉；

他們這麼快偏離了我所吩咐的道，為自己鑄了一頭牛犢，向它跪拜，向它獻祭，說：『以色列啊，這就是領你出埃及地的神明。』」

耶戶召集眾百姓，對他們說：「亞哈事奉巴力還不夠熱心，耶戶更要熱心。現在你們召集巴力的眾先知和所有拜巴力的人，以及巴力的眾祭司，都到我這裏來，一個也不可缺少，因為我要給巴力獻大祭；凡不來的必不得活。」耶戶行詭詐，為要消滅拜巴力的人。耶戶說：「要為巴力召集嚴肅會！」於是他們宣告了。耶戶派人走遍以色列；凡拜巴力的人都來齊了，沒有留下一個不來的。他們進了巴力廟，巴力廟中前後都擠滿了人。耶戶對掌管服裝的人說：「拿出袍子來，給所有拜巴力的人穿。」他就拿出禮服來給了他們。耶戶和利甲的兒子約拿達進了巴力廟，對拜巴力的人說：「你們要搜查察看，不可以有耶和華的僕人在你們這裏，只可以有拜巴力的人。」他們進去，獻上祭物和燔祭，耶戶先安排八十人在廟外，說：「我把這些人交在你們手中，誰放走其中一人，誰就要以命償命！」耶戶獻完了燔祭，就對護衛兵和眾軍官說：「進去殺他們，不要讓一人逃脫！」護衛兵和軍官用刀殺了他們，將屍體拋出去，然後進入巴力廟的堡壘，將巴力廟中的柱像都拿出來焚燒。他們毀壞巴力的柱像，拆毀了巴力廟當廁所，直到今日。這樣，耶戶在以色列中消滅了巴力。
