They forsook all the commands of the Lord their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal.

They turned away from all the commands of the Lord their God. They made two statues of gods for themselves. The statues were shaped like calves. They made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. They bowed down to all the stars. And they worshiped the god named Baal.

And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.

They rejected all the commands of the Lord their God and made two calves from metal. They set up an Asherah pole and worshiped Baal and all the forces of heaven.

耶羅波安王就打定了主意，造了兩隻金牛犢，對眾民說：『以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去已經夠了；看哪，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的。』

他犯了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪、還以為輕，竟又娶了西頓王謁巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻子，去服事敬拜巴力；

永恆主必擊打以色列人，使他們像蘆荻在水中搖動一樣；也必將他們從永恆主賜給他們列祖這美好土地上拔出來，叫他們四散在大河那邊，因為他們立了亞舍拉神木、來惹永恆主發怒。

他們在各高岡上、各茂盛樹下築了邱壇，立了崇拜柱子、和亞舍拉神木。

又恐怕你舉目望天，觀看着日、月、星辰、天上的萬象，就被勾引、去敬拜事奉它們，事奉永恆主你的上帝所分給普天下萬族之民的。

他重新建築了他父親希西家所毁壞的邱壇，又為外國神巴力立了幾座祭壇，又造了一根亞舍拉神木，像以色列王亞哈所行的，並且敬拜事奉了天上的萬象。

亞哈又立了亞舍拉神木；更加行惡來惹永恆主以色列之上帝的發怒，比他以前的以色列諸王更壞。

他照他父親一切所作的、去服事敬拜巴力，惹了永恆主以色列之上帝的怒。

並且把他祖母瑪迦廢掉、不讓她做太后，因為她祖母為亞舍拉造了可憎的像；亞撒把她那可憎的像砍下來，燒在汲淪谿谷邊；

於是國中之民都到巴力廟、將廟拆毁；將他的壇和像狠狠地打碎；又在祭壇前將巴力的祭司馬坦殺死。祭司耶何耶大就派官來看守永恆主的殿。

製造雕像的盡都虛空；他們所喜愛的都沒有用處；他們的見證人毫無所見，毫無所知，以致自己失望。誰製造神像，鑄造無用的雕像呢？

亞倫從他們手裏接過來，用雕刻的器具雕造它，作成一隻鑄像的牛犢；他們就說：『以色列啊，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的！』

拋散在日頭、月亮、和天上的萬象之下，就是他們從前所喜愛、所事奉、所隨從、所求問、所敬拜的；這些骸骨必不再被收殮，不再埋葬，就在地面上成為糞土。

有火在他們一黨的人中間着起來，有火燄消滅了惡人。他們在何烈山造了牛犢，敬拜了鑄像。用喫草的牛的模形去代換上帝的榮耀。

又在各高岡上、各茂盛樹下、立了崇拜柱子和亞舍拉神木；

他們很快地就偏離了我所吩咐他們走的道路，而為自己造了一隻鑄像的牛犢，去敬拜它，向它獻祭說：『以色列啊，這就是你們的神、那領你們從埃及地上來的！」』

耶戶集合了眾民，對他們說：『亞哈事奉巴力還是小可，耶戶卻要大大事奉他。現在你要叫巴力的眾神言人、和所有事奉巴力的人、以及巴力的眾祭司、都到我這裏來；一個也不要缺；因為我有大宰祭要獻給巴力：凡缺席的就活不了。』但耶戶這樣行、是用詭計、要殺滅事奉巴力的人。耶戶說：『要為巴力祝聖一個聖節會。』他們就這樣宣告了。耶戶打發人走遍全以色列；所有事奉巴力的人都來了；沒有剩下一個不來的。他們都進巴力廟，以致巴力廟從這邊到那邊都滿了人。耶戶對管理衣服室的人說：『拿出禮服來、給所有事奉巴力的人穿。』他就將禮服拿出來給了他們。耶戶和利甲的兒子約拿答進了巴力廟，對事奉巴力的人說：『你們要搜查，要看清楚：這裏不可有事奉永恆主的人在你們中間，只可有事奉巴力的人。』他自己就進去獻平安祭和燔祭。耶戶先安置八十人在外面，說：『我所交在你們手中的這些人、若有一人逃脫，放走的就必須以命償命。』獻完了燔祭，耶戶就對衛兵和軍官們說：『你們進去擊殺他們；一個也不可讓他出來。』衛兵和軍官就用刀擊殺他們，將屍體丟出來，又走到巴力廟的衛城那裏，將巴力廟裏的柱像都拿出來燒；又將巴力柱像都拆毁，將巴力廟都拆毁，使它作為廁所，到今日還是糞坑。這樣、耶戶使拜巴力的事從以色列中消滅了。
