At every high place they burned incense, as the nations whom the Lord had driven out before them had done. They did wicked things that aroused the Lord’s anger.

The Lord had driven out nations to make room for Israel. But the Israelites burned incense at every high place, just as those nations had done. The Israelites did evil things that made the Lord very angry.

and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger,

They offered sacrifices on all the hilltops, just like the nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of them. So the people of Israel had done many evil things, arousing the Lord’s anger.

They burned incense there on all the high places just like the nations that the LORD had driven out before them had done. They did evil things, angering the LORD.

有一個神人，奉耶和華的命令，從猶大來到伯特利；那時，耶羅波安正站在祭壇旁邊燒香。

他又把他的兒子用火燒為祭（“把他的兒子用火燒為祭”直譯是“使他的兒子經過進入火中”），並且算命、觀兆，交鬼和行巫術；多行耶和華看為惡的事，惹他發怒。

但他們仍然試探和悖逆至高的神，不謹守他的法則。他們背信不忠，像他們的列祖一樣；他們改變了，如同不可靠的弓。因他們的邱壇，惹起他的怒氣，因他們雕刻的偶像，激起他的憤恨。

他又在猶大各城建造邱壇，向別的神燒香，惹怒他列祖的神。

我們口中說過的一切話，我們一定去作，我們要向天后燒香，澆奠祭，好像我們自己和我們的列祖，以及我們的君王和領袖，在猶大的各城和耶路撒冷的街上所行的一樣。那時我們吃得飽，得享福樂，不見災禍。
