Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord his God.

Ahaz was 20 years old when he became king. He ruled in Jerusalem for 16 years. Ahaz didn’t do what was right in the eyes of the Lord his God. He didn’t do what King David had done.

行善於耶和華前、於父亞馬謝所為、是則是效、

如爾誠心實意、遵從我命、守我禮儀法度、於爾父大闢是則是效、

行善於耶和華前、於父約轄所為、是則是效、較厥祖大闢、則有遜焉。

亞哈士年二十即位、都耶路撒冷、歷十六年、不行善於耶和華前、不繩厥祖大闢之武。從以色列列王所為、鑄偶像、奉事巴力。昔異邦族類、行可惡之事、耶和華為以色列逐之、今亞哈士亦效其尤、在便欣嫩谷焚獻子女、獻祭焚香於崇坵、在高岡之巔、茂林之下。

所羅門年既老、諸妃迷眩其衷懷、使不一心誠恪、從其上帝耶和華、效父大闢所為、反從事他上帝、即西頓人之上帝亞大綠、亞捫人可惡之物密君、不效父大闢、恆從耶和華、乃行惡於耶和華前、在耶路撒冷相對之山、築崇邱、奉摩押人可惡之物基抹、亞捫人可惡之物摩洛、亦從娶於異族之嬪妃、焚香獻祭、奉厥上帝。

濟父之惡、蹈於愆尤、不效祖大闢所為、中心誠恪、尊厥上帝耶和華、

行善於耶和華前、於父烏西亞所為、是則是效、

行善於耶和華前、於祖大闢所為、是則是效、

行善於耶和華前、於祖大闢所為、是則是效、不偏於左、不偏於右。

約沙法效祖大闢善行、宗事上帝、遵從厥命、不蹈以色列族之愆尤、而崇巴力、故蒙耶和華祐。

如爾行由我道、守我禁令禮儀、循爾父之所為、我亦將錫爾遐齡。
