Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He saw an altar in Damascus and sent to Uriah the priest a sketch of the altar, with detailed plans for its construction.

This is what the Lord says:“ Do not learn the way of the nations, And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens, Although the nations are terrified by them;

by putting their threshold by My threshold, and their door post beside My door post, with only the wall between Me and them. And they have defiled My holy name by their abominations which they have committed. So I have consumed them in My anger.

And in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. Then he got up early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain with twelve memorial stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,

be careful that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from your presence, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying,‘ How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?’

“ All this,” said David,“ the Lord made me understand in writing by His hand upon me, all the details of this pattern.”

And when she saw them she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.And the Babylonians came to her to the bed of love and defiled her with their obscene practice. And when she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.
