Then Ahaz took the silver and gold that were in the LORD’s temple and in the treasuries of the royal palace and sent it as tribute to the king of Assyria.

King Shalmaneser of Assyria threatened him; Hoshea became his subject and paid him tribute.The king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea was planning a revolt. When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim turned to Assyria, and begged its great king for help. But he will not be able to heal you! He cannot cure your wound!
