Yet he did not put the children of the assassins to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses where the Lord commanded:“ Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.”

Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes.”

The person who sins is the one who will die. A son will not suffer for his father’s iniquity, and a father will not suffer for his son’s iniquity; the righteous person will be judged according to his righteousness, and the wicked person according to his wickedness.

Fathers must not be put to death for what their children do, nor children for what their fathers do; each must be put to death for his own sin.

Indeed! All lives are mine– the life of the father as well as the life of the son is mine. The one who sins will die.

Rather, each person will die for his own sins. The teeth of the person who eats the sour grapes will themselves grow numb.
