He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. But he didn’t do what King David had done. He always followed the example of his father Joash.

And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not like David his father. He did in all things as Joash his father had done.

Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but not like his ancestor David. Instead, he followed the example of his father, Joash.

When Solomon became old, his wives shifted his allegiance to other gods; he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God, as his father David had been.

He did what the LORD approved, but not with wholehearted devotion.When he had secured control of the kingdom, he executed the servants who had assassinated his father.

He followed all the sinful practices of his father before him. He was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God, as his ancestor David had been.

After Jehoiada died, the officials of Judah visited the king and declared their loyalty to him. The king listened to their advice.

You know that from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors you were ransomed– not by perishable things like silver or gold,

Throughout his lifetime Jehoash did what the LORD approved, just as Jehoiada the priest taught him.

Then I said,“ LORD, you give me strength and protect me. You are the one I can run to for safety when I am in trouble. Nations from all over the earth will come to you and say,‘ Our ancestors had nothing but false gods– worthless idols that could not help them at all.

When Amaziah returned from defeating the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people of Seir and made them his personal gods. He bowed down before them and offered them sacrifices.The LORD was angry at Amaziah and sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why are you following these gods that could not deliver their own people from your power?”While he was speaking, Amaziah said to him,“ Did we appoint you to be a royal counselor? Stop prophesying or else you will be killed!” So the prophet stopped, but added,“ I know that the LORD has decided to destroy you, because you have done this thing and refused to listen to my advice.”

Joash did what the LORD approved throughout the lifetime of Jehoiada the priest.
