He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

所羅門年老的時候、他的妻妾使他的心偏離、去隨從別的神；他的心總不純全全地歸向永恆主他的上帝，不像他父親大衛那樣。

耶何耶大死了以後，猶大的首領們來朝拜王；這時王就聽從他們。

因為知道你們得贖放、脫離你們祖傳徒勞無效的生活、不是用能朽壞的東西、銀子或金子，

儘祭司耶何耶大指教他的日子，約阿施都行永恆主所看為對的事。

永恆主，我的力量，我的保障，我患難之日的躲避所啊，列國的人必從地極來見你，說：『我們列祖所承受到的不過是虛假、虛空、其中毫無益處的偶像。

亞瑪謝擊殺了以東人回來之後，同時把西珥的神像也帶來，立為自己的神，在它們面前叩拜，向它們燻祭。因此永恆主向亞瑪謝發怒，就差遣一個神言人來見他，對他說：『這一族民的神既不能援救自己的人民脫離你的手、你為甚麼還尋求他們呢？』神言人向王說話的時候，王對他說：『我們何曾立你做參謀呢？你止住、別說吧！為甚麼硬要被打死呢？』那神言人就止住了；可又再說：『我知道上帝是定下了主意要滅絕你的，因為你行這事，不聽我給你出的主意。』
