He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. But he didn’t do what King David had done. He always followed the example of his father Joash.

耶何耶大卒後、猶大諸牧伯來朝拜於王、王從其所請、

蓋爾之妄行、由爾祖所傳者、爾得贖以脫之、知非以金銀可壞之物、

約阿施在祭司耶何耶大訓誨之時、行善於主前、

先知曰、主歟、主賜我以力、護我如鞏固之城、我遇難之日、就主蒙庇、異邦人自地極而來、歸誠於主、曰、我祖所承受於古、皆浮偽虛無、毫無裨益、

亞瑪謝擊以東人而歸、攜西珥族之神、設為己神、叩拜其前、為之焚香、緣此、主向亞瑪謝震怒、遣先知告之曰、斯諸神不能救拜之之民脫於爾手、爾反崇之奚為、先知與王言時、王曰、誰立爾為王之謀士、爾止哉、不然、爾必見撻、先知乃止、既而曰、爾行斯事、不聽我言、我知天主決意欲敗爾、○
