He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. But he didn’t do what King David had done. He always followed the example of his father Joash.

約阿施在祭司耶何耶大訓誨之日、行耶和華所悅、

耶和華歟、爾為我力、我之保障、我難中之避所、列邦必自地極而至、曰、我祖所承者、莫非妄誕虛偽無益之物、

亞瑪謝戮以東人而返、攜西珥族之神像、立為己神、跪拜其前、向之焚香、故耶和華怒亞瑪謝、遣先知告之曰、斯神未援其民於爾手、爾求之奚為、先知與王言時、王曰、我儕豈立爾為王之謀士、爾休矣、何為見撻、先知乃止、既而曰、我知上帝決意滅爾、因爾行此、不聽我勸戒也、○
