He did what was right in the LORD’s sight, but not like his ancestor David. He did everything his father Joash had done.

He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. But he didn’t do what King David had done. He always followed the example of his father Joash.

And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not like David his father. He did in all things as Joash his father had done.

Amaziah did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but not like his ancestor David. Instead, he followed the example of his father, Joash.

He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, yet not like his father David; he acted in accordance with everything that his father Joash had done.

Do not be like your ancestors; the earlier prophets proclaimed to them: This is what the LORD of Armies says: Turn from your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they did not listen or pay attention to me— this is the LORD’s declaration.Where are your ancestors now? And do the prophets live forever?But didn’t my words and my statutes that I commanded my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors?’” So the people repented and said,“ As the LORD of Armies decided to deal with us for our ways and our deeds, so he has dealt with us.”

When Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away to follow other gods. He was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God, as his father David had been.

He did what was right in the LORD’s sight but not wholeheartedly.As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, he executed his servants who had killed his father the king.

Abijam walked in all the sins his father before him had committed, and he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God as his ancestor David had been.

However, after Jehoiada died, the rulers of Judah came and paid homage to the king. Then the king listened to them,

For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,

Throughout the time the priest Jehoiada instructed him, Joash did what was right in the LORD’s sight.

LORD, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in a time of distress, the nations will come to you from the ends of the earth, and they will say,“ Our ancestors inherited only lies, worthless idols of no benefit at all.”

After Amaziah came from the attack on the Edomites, he brought the gods of the Seirites and set them up as his gods. He worshiped before them and burned incense to them.So the LORD’s anger was against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why have you sought a people’s gods that could not rescue their own people from you?”While he was still speaking to him, the king asked,“ Have we made you the king’s counselor? Stop, why should you lose your life?” So the prophet stopped, but he said,“ I know that God intends to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my advice.”

Throughout the time of the priest Jehoiada, Joash did what was right in the LORD’s sight.
