And since the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.

The Lord hadn’t said he would wipe out Israel’s name from the earth. So he saved them by the power of Jeroboam, the son of Jehoash.

But the Lord had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

And because the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel completely, he used Jeroboam II, the son of Jehoash, to save them.

耶和華卻因與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的約，仍施恩給以色列人，憐憫他們，眷顧他們，不肯滅盡他們，直到現在仍不趕逐他們離開自己面前。

耶和華賜給以色列一位拯救者，使他們脫離亞蘭人的手，於是以色列人仍舊安居在自己的帳棚裏。

願他們從生命冊上被塗去，不得名列在義人之中。

得勝的必這樣穿白衣，我也不從生命冊上塗去他的名；我要在我父面前，和我父的眾使者面前，宣認他的名。

所以，當耶和華－你的上帝使你不被四圍一切仇敵擾亂，在耶和華－你上帝賜你為業的地上得享平靜的時候，你要把亞瑪力的名從天下塗去；你不可忘記這事。」

你且由着我，我要除滅他們，從天下塗去他們的名，我要使你成為比他們更大更強的國。』

亞蘭王的元帥乃縵在他主人面前是一個偉大的人，得王的喜悅，因為耶和華曾藉他使亞蘭人得勝。他雖然是大能的勇士，卻染上了痲瘋。

耶和華必不願饒恕他；耶和華的怒氣與妒忌必向他如煙冒出，將這書上所寫的一切詛咒都加在他身上，耶和華也要從天下塗去他的名。

但到了我們救主上帝的恩慈和慈愛顯明的時候，他救了我們，並不是因我們自己所行的義，而是照他的憐憫，藉着重生的洗和聖靈的更新。聖靈就是上帝藉着我們的救主耶穌基督厚厚地澆灌在我們身上的，

歌篾又懷孕，生了一個女兒，耶和華對何西阿說：「給她起名叫羅‧路哈瑪；因為我必不再憐憫以色列家，絕不赦免他們。我卻要憐憫猶大家，使他們靠耶和華－他們的上帝得救；我必不讓他們靠弓、刀、戰爭、馬匹與騎兵得救。」

現在，求你赦免他們的罪；不然，就把我從你所寫的冊上除名。」耶和華對摩西說：「誰得罪我，我就把他從我的冊上除去。

上帝並沒有棄絕他預先所知道的百姓。你們豈不知道經上論到以利亞是怎麼說的呢？他在上帝面前怎樣控告以色列人說：「主啊，他們殺了你的先知，拆了你的祭壇，只剩下我一個人，他們還要我的命。」但上帝的指示是怎麼對他說的呢？他說：「我為自己留下七千人，是未曾向巴力屈膝的。」現在這時刻也是這樣，照着出於恩典的揀選，還有所留的餘數。既是靠恩典，就不憑行為，不然，恩典就不再是恩典了。那又怎麼說呢？以色列人所尋求的，他們沒有得着。但是蒙揀選的人得着了，其餘的人卻成了頑梗不化的。如經上所記：「上帝給他們昏沉的靈，眼睛看不見，耳朵聽不到，直到今日。」大衛也說：「願他們的宴席變為羅網，變為陷阱，變為絆腳石，作他們的報應。願他們的眼睛昏花，看不見；願你時常彎下他們的腰。」那麼，我再問，他們失足是要他們跌倒嗎？絕對不是！因他們的過犯，救恩反而臨到外邦人，要激起他們嫉妒的心。如果他們的過犯成為世界的富足，他們的缺乏成為外邦人的富足，更何況他們全數得救呢？
