And since the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.

The Lord hadn’t said he would wipe out Israel’s name from the earth. So he saved them by the power of Jeroboam, the son of Jehoash.

But the Lord had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

And because the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel completely, he used Jeroboam II, the son of Jehoash, to save them.

但是永恆主卻因他和亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各、所立之約的緣故，仍然恩待以色列人，憐恤他們，垂顧他們、不情願使他們滅絕，所以直到現在還沒有丟掉他們離開自己面前。

（永恆主賜給以色列人一位拯救者，使他們從亞蘭人手下擺脫出來，所以以色列人仍像素常一樣、安居在家裏。

願他們從生命冊上被塗抹，不得和義人一同被記錄。

得勝的必這樣披着白衣；我決不從生命冊上擦掉他的名；我必在我父面前、和我父的眾使者面前、承認他的名。

所以將來永恆主你的上帝使你得享平靜、在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你去取得為基業的地、脫離了你四圍一切的仇敵，那時你務要將亞瑪力這名號從天下塗抹掉：不可忘記。

你且由着我；我要消滅他們，將他們的名從天下塗抹掉；我要使你成為比他們強比他們繁盛的國。」

亞蘭王的軍長乃縵在他的主上面前是個大人物，受人景仰，很有體面，因為永恆主曾藉着他使亞蘭人得勝；這人呢、是個有力氣英勇的人，卻患了痲瘋屬之病。

但是永恆主必不情願赦免這種人，永恆主的怒氣和妒憤反而要向這種人冒煙，而這書上所寫的這一切咒詛就都要伏在那人身上；永恆主又要將他的名從天下塗抹掉。

但是我們的拯救者上帝的慈惠和仁慈顯現的時候，他救了我們，不是由於我們所行的有甚麼本於義的行為，乃是按照他的憐憫，藉着再生之洗和聖靈之更新力。聖靈是上帝藉着耶穌基督、我們的救主、豐豐富富傾注於我們身上的；

歌篾又懷了孕，生個女兒。永恆主對何西阿說：『給她起名叫不蒙憐憫，因為我必不再憐憫以色列家，決不赦免他們。猶大家我卻要憐憫；我必憑着我永恆主他們的上帝來拯救他們；我不靠着弓、不靠着刀或爭戰、不靠着馬匹或馬兵去拯救他們。』

如今，你若赦免他們的罪，就好啦；倘若不然，就求你從你所記的冊上把我塗抹掉吧。』永恆主對摩西說：『誰犯罪得罪了我，我就從我的冊上塗抹誰。

上帝並沒有把他所豫知的子民推開啊。你們不曉得經上在以利亞那段所說的麼？他怎樣向上帝懇求告以色列說：『主啊，他們殺害了你的神言人，挖倒了你的祭壇，只剩下我一個人，他們還搜索要我的命呢。』但上帝的回諭對他說甚麼呢？『我為自己留下了七千人、是沒有向巴力屈過膝的。』照樣看來，就是在現今這時期、也仍然有按恩典的揀選所留下的餘數呢。既是按着恩典，就不是由於行為了；不然，恩典就不再是恩典了。那麼便怎麼樣呢？以色列所切求的、他們竟然沒有得着；惟獨蒙揀選的人得着了。其餘的人就成了頑梗不化的；正如經上所記的：『上帝給了他們麻木的靈，不能看的眼，不能聽的耳，直到今天這日子。』大衛也說：『願他們的筵席對他們成了網羅，成了機檻，成了絆跌物，又成了報應；願他們的眼昏矇、不能看見；願你使他們的脊背總是彎屈卑服。』那麼我要說，難道他們猶太人失了腳，是要全然跌倒麼？斷乎不是。我乃是說，因他們的過犯、拯救便臨到了外國人，好激動他們的羨妒。如果他們的過犯致成了世界之富足，而他們之退落減少也致成了外國人之富足，那麼他們的滿數得救、豈不更是如此麼？
