He was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamath to the Dead Sea, in accordance with the word of the Lord, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher.

Jeroboam, the son of Jehoash, made the borders of Israel the same as they were before. They reached from Lebo Hamath all the way to the Dead Sea. That’s what the Lord, the God of Israel, had said would happen. He had spoken that message through his servant Jonah. Jonah the prophet was the son of Amittai. Jonah was from the town of Gath Hepher.

The word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

From there it continued eastward toward the sunrise to Gath hepher, to Eth kazin, and it proceeded to Rimmon which stretches to Neah.

This is the north side.“ The east side, from between Hauran, Damascus, Gilead, and the land of Israel, shall be the Jordan; from the north border to the eastern sea you shall measure. This is the east side.

‘ And this shall be your northern border: you shall draw your boundary from the Great Sea to Mount Hor.You shall draw a boundary from Mount Hor to the Lebo hamath, and the termination of the border shall be at Zedad;

In those days the Lord began to cut off pieces from Israel; and Hazael defeated them throughout the territory of Israel:
