Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash went to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate— a section about four hundred cubits long.

Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah at Beth Shemesh. Amaziah was the son of Joash. Joash was the son of Ahaziah. Jehoash went to Jerusalem. He broke down part of its wall. It’s the part that went from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate. That part of the wall was 600 feet long.

And Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for four hundred cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

於是，民眾都出去取來樹枝，在自家的屋頂上、庭院裡、上帝殿的院子裡、水門的廣場上和以法蓮門的廣場上搭棚。

從迦巴直到耶路撒冷南邊的臨門，整個地區都要變為平原。從便雅憫門到舊門，再到角門，從哈楠業樓到王的榨酒池——耶路撒冷必仍然矗立在原處。

然後又經過以法蓮門、古門、魚門、哈楠業樓、哈米亞樓，遠至羊門，之後停在護衛門。

耶和華說：「看啊，時候將到，從哈楠業樓直到角門，整個耶路撒冷城要重建起來歸給耶和華。

到那日，狂妄的人將被挫敗，驕傲的人將遭貶抑；唯獨耶和華將受尊崇。因為萬軍之耶和華已定了日子，要懲罰一切驕傲狂妄和自高自大的人，使他們淪為卑賤；

因為自高的人必遭貶抑，謙卑的人必得尊榮。」

迦勒底人擒住西底迦，把他押到利比拉見巴比倫王，在那裡審判他。

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒起兵攻打他，用銅鏈把他鎖著帶到巴比倫。

以色列王約阿施在伯·示麥擒獲約哈斯的孫子、約阿施的兒子、猶大王亞瑪謝，把他帶到耶路撒冷，又拆毀從以法蓮門到角門約一百八十米長的耶路撒冷城牆，搶走俄別·以東在上帝殿中看守的所有金銀和器皿以及王宮裡的財寶，並帶著人質返回撒瑪利亞。

現在我尼布甲尼撒頌讚、尊崇、敬奉天上的王，因為祂的作為公正，祂行事公平，能夠貶抑行為驕傲的人。」

所以，耶和華就差遣亞述王的將領來攻擊他們，他們捉住瑪拿西，用鉤子鉤著他，用銅鏈鎖著他押往巴比倫。

驕橫是淪亡的前奏，狂傲是敗落的預兆。

那年春天，尼布甲尼撒王派人把他和耶和華殿裡的貴重器皿一同帶到巴比倫。尼布甲尼撒另立約雅斤的叔叔西底迦做猶大和耶路撒冷的王。

發洩你滿腔的怒火，鑒察驕傲者，貶抑他；鑒察驕傲者，制伏他，將惡人原地踐踏；

驕傲的人必遭貶抑，謙卑的人必得尊榮。
