The man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”

神人惱怒他、說：『你應當擊打五六次，就能擊敗亞蘭人，直到將他們盡都滅掉；現在呢、你只能將亞蘭人擊敗了三次。』

上帝僕怒之曰、爾宜擊地五六次、則必擊亞蘭人、至於盡滅、今擊之僅三次而已、○

The man of God was angry with him. He said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have won the war over Aram. You would have completely destroyed them. But now you will win only three battles over them.”

Then the man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.”

But the man of God was angry with him.“ You should have struck the ground five or six times!” he exclaimed.“ Then you would have beaten Aram until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times.”

The man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to them, but now you will strike down Aram only three times.”

Then the man of God became angry at him and said,“ You should have struck five or six times, then you would have struck Aram until you put an end to it. But now you shall strike Aram only three times.”

And the man of God was angry with him, and said,“ You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.”

And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times: then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it; whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

The man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to them, but now you will only strike down Aram three times.”

And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed[ it]: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria[ but] thrice.

The prophet got angry at him and said,“ If you had struck the ground five or six times, you would have annihilated Syria! But now, you will defeat Syria only three times.”

The man of God was angry with him, and said,“ You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Syria until you had consumed it; whereas now you will strike Syria just three times.”

Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured from Ben-Hadad son of Hazael the towns he had taken in battle from his father Jehoahaz. Three times Jehoash defeated him, and so he recovered the Israelite towns.

The stew was poured out for the men, but as they began to eat it, they cried out,“ Man of God, there is death in the pot!” And they could not eat it.

Then Moses became very angry and said to the Lord,“ Do not accept their offering. I have not taken so much as a donkey from them, nor have I wronged any of them.”

When Moses inquired about the goat of the sin offering and found that it had been burned up, he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s remaining sons, and asked,

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them,“ Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.

He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.

Then he sent to Elijah a captain with his company of fifty men. The captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of a hill, and said to him,“ Man of God, the king says,‘ Come down!’”Elijah answered the captain,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men.At this the king sent to Elijah another captain with his fifty men. The captain said to him,“ Man of God, this is what the king says,‘ Come down at once!’”“ If I am a man of God,” Elijah replied,“ may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then the fire of God fell from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.So the king sent a third captain with his fifty men. This third captain went up and fell on his knees before Elijah.“ Man of God,” he begged,“ please have respect for my life and the lives of these fifty men, your servants!See, fire has fallen from heaven and consumed the first two captains and all their men. But now have respect for my life!”The angel of the Lord said to Elijah,“ Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.” So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.

The man of God sent word to the king of Israel:“ Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.”

“ About this time next year,” Elisha said,“ you will hold a son in your arms.”“ No, my lord!” she objected.“ Please, man of God, don’t mislead your servant!”
