Then the man of God became angry at him and said,“ You should have struck five or six times, then you would have struck Aram until you put an end to it. But now you shall strike Aram only three times.”

上帝僕怒之曰、爾宜擊地五六次、則必擊亞蘭人、至於盡滅、今擊之僅三次而已、○

The man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”

The man of God was angry with him. He said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have won the war over Aram. You would have completely destroyed them. But now you will win only three battles over them.”

Then the man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.”

But the man of God was angry with him.“ You should have struck the ground five or six times!” he exclaimed.“ Then you would have beaten Aram until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times.”

The man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to them, but now you will strike down Aram only three times.”

And the man of God was angry with him, and said,“ You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.”

And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times: then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it; whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

The man of God was angry with him and said,“ You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to them, but now you will only strike down Aram three times.”

And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed[ it]: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria[ but] thrice.

The prophet got angry at him and said,“ If you had struck the ground five or six times, you would have annihilated Syria! But now, you will defeat Syria only three times.”

The man of God was angry with him, and said,“ You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Syria until you had consumed it; whereas now you will strike Syria just three times.”

Then Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz again took from the hand of Ben hadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken in war from the hand of his father Jehoahaz. Three times Joash defeated him and recovered the cities of Israel.

So they poured it out for the men to eat. But as they were eating the stew, they cried out and said,“ You man of God, there is death in the pot!” And they were unable to eat.

Then Moses became very angry and said to the Lord,“ Pay no attention to their offering! I have not taken a single donkey from them, nor have I done harm to any of them.”

But Moses searched carefully for the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it had been burned! So he was angry with Aaron’s surviving sons Eleazar and Ithamar, saying,

But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them,“ Allow the children to come to Me; do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He* said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

And He could not do any miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

Then the king sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he went up to him, and behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. And he said to him,“ You man of God, the king says,‘ Come down.’ ”But Elijah replied to the captain of fifty,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.So the king again sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he said to him,“ You man of God, this is what the king says:‘ Come down quickly!’ ”But Elijah replied to them,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.So the king again sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty men. When the third captain of fifty went up, he came and bowed down on his knees before Elijah, and begged him and said to him,“ You man of God, please let my life and the lives of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your sight.Behold, fire came down from heaven and consumed the first two captains of fifty with their fifties; but now let my life be precious in your sight.”And the angel of the Lord said to Elijah,“ Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.” So he got up and went down with him to the king.

But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, saying,“ Be careful that you do not pass this place, because the Arameans are coming down there.”

Then he said,“ At this season next year, you are going to embrace a son.” And she said,“ No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your servant.”
