In the seventh year of Jehu, Joash became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem forty years. His mother’s name was Zibiah; she was from Beersheba.

Joash became king of Judah. It was in the seventh year of Jehu’s rule. Joash ruled in Jerusalem for 40 years. His mother’s name was Zibiah. She was from Beersheba.

亚哈谢的母亲亚她利雅见她儿子死了，就起来剿灭王室所有的后裔。但约兰王的女儿，亚哈谢的妹妹约示巴，将亚哈谢的儿子约阿施从被杀的王子中偷出来，把他和他的奶妈藏在卧房里，躲避了亚她利雅，没有被杀。亚她利雅治理这地的时候，约阿施和他的奶妈在耶和华的殿里藏了六年。第七年，耶何耶大派人叫迦利人和护卫兵的众百夫长来，领他们进耶和华的殿，与他们立约，使他们在耶和华殿里起誓，又把王的儿子指给他们看，

约阿施登基的时候年方七岁，在耶路撒冷作王四十年。他母亲名叫西比亚，是别是巴人。耶何耶大祭司在世的日子，约阿施行耶和华眼中看为正的事。耶何耶大为他娶了两个妻子，他生儿育女。此后，约阿施有心重修耶和华的殿，就召集祭司和利未人，吩咐他们说：“你们要往犹大各城去，向以色列众人征收银子，按每年的需要整修你们神的殿；你们要急速办理这事。”但利未人没有急速办理。王召了耶何耶大祭司长来，对他说：“从前耶和华的仆人摩西，为法柜的帐幕与以色列会众所定的捐献，你为何不叫利未人照这例向犹大和耶路撒冷征收呢？”因为那恶妇亚她利雅的儿子们曾拆毁神的殿，又用耶和华殿中分别为圣的物供奉诸巴力。于是王下令造一个柜子，放在耶和华殿的门外，又通告犹大和耶路撒冷，要将神仆人摩西在旷野所吩咐以色列的捐献送来给耶和华。众领袖和百姓都欢欢喜喜带捐献来，投入柜中，直到投满。利未人见银子多了，把柜子抬到王所派的官长面前；这时王的书记和祭司长的助手就会来把柜子倒空，然后放回原处。日日都是这样做，积蓄的银子很多。王与耶何耶大把银子交给耶和华殿里办事的人，他们就雇了石匠、木匠重修耶和华的殿，又雇了铁匠、铜匠整修耶和华的殿。工人做工，修理工程在他们手中渐渐完成，他们将神的殿修理得如同从前一样，非常坚固。他们做完了，就把多余的银子拿到王与耶何耶大面前，用以制造耶和华殿供奉所用的器皿和调羹，以及金银的器皿。耶何耶大在世的日子，众人经常在耶和华殿里献燔祭。

犹大王亚哈谢看见了，就沿着伯‧哈干的路逃跑。耶户追赶他，说：“把这人也击杀在车上，在靠近以伯莲的姑珥坡上。”他逃到米吉多，就死在那里。
