He commanded them, saying,“ This is what you are to do: You who are in the three companies that are going on duty on the Sabbath— a third of you guarding the royal palace,

He gave them a command. He said,“ Here’s what you must do. There are five groups of you. Some of you are in the three groups that are going on duty on the Sabbath day. A third of you must guard the royal palace.

And he commanded them,“ This is the thing that you shall do: one third of you, those who come off duty on the Sabbath and guard the king’s house

Jehoiada told them,“ This is what you must do. A third of you who are on duty on the Sabbath are to guard the royal palace itself.

利未人三十歲和以上的都被數點；按男的人丁計算、他們的數目有三萬八千。其中有二萬四千人監管永恆主之殿的工；有六千人做職員和司法人員；有四千人做守門的；又有四千人，大衛說：『要用我所作的讚美樂器來稱讚永恆主。』大衛將利未人革順、哥轄、米拉利的子孫分成了班次。

有一天、撒迦利亞按他的班次在上帝面前供祭司的職分，照祭司職任的規矩抓鬮，該進主的殿堂燒香。

他們要守盡會棚的職守、聖地方的職守、和他們族弟兄亞倫子孫的職守，來辦永恆主之殿的事務。

他對我說：『這門必須關閉着；不可敞開；誰也不可由那裏進入；因為永恆主以色列之上帝曾經由那裏進入過；因此必須關閉着。至於人君、只有人君可以坐在那裏，在永恆主面前喫飯；只有他可以從這門廊的路進入，而從原路出來。』

人君要從這門的廊子外面進入，在門框旁邊立着；祭司要供備他的燔祭和平安祭，他就在門限那裏敬拜，然後出去；這門非到傍晚總不關閉。國中的人民呢、也要在這門口、在永恆主面前、當安息日和月初一來敬拜。

又因亞述王的緣故、將聖殿為安息日所建的廊子、和王從外邊進殿經過的走廊、都從永恆主的殿拆走。

他席上的食品、他臣僕的坐次、他聽差的站班、他們的服裝、他的酒政、以及他的燔祭、就是他在永恆主殿裏所獻上的；她看見了這一切，就詫異得神不守舍。

大衛同以利亞撒子孫中的撒督和以他瑪子孫中的亞希米勒將他們的族弟兄分配起來，按他們受派的職任去服務。他們發現了以利亞撒子孫中為人首領的，比以他瑪子孫中的多，就把他們分配起來：屬以利亞撒子孫為首領的、按他們父系的家屬有十六人，屬以他瑪子孫的、按他們父系的家屬有八人。他們憑拈鬮把他們分配起來，彼此同樣；因為以利亞撒的子孫中和以他瑪的子孫中都有人在聖所做首領、或是在上帝面前做首領的。做祕書的利未人拿坦業的兒子示瑪雅在王面前、和首領們跟祭司撒督、亞比亞他的兒子亞希米勒、跟祭司和利未人父系家屬的族長面前、記錄下來；屬以利亞撒的有一個父系的家屬被選取了，屬以他瑪的也有一個被選取。

又率領百夫長、傭兵迦利人和衛兵、以及國中之民；他們請王從永恆主的殿下來，他們從衛兵的門路進入王宮；王就坐了王位。
