He commanded them, saying,“ This is what you are to do: You who are in the three companies that are going on duty on the Sabbath— a third of you guarding the royal palace,

He gave them a command. He said,“ Here’s what you must do. There are five groups of you. Some of you are in the three groups that are going on duty on the Sabbath day. A third of you must guard the royal palace.

And he commanded them,“ This is the thing that you shall do: one third of you, those who come off duty on the Sabbath and guard the king’s house

Jehoiada told them,“ This is what you must do. A third of you who are on duty on the Sabbath are to guard the royal palace itself.

and commanded them,“ This is what you are to do: A third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath are to provide protection for the king’s palace.

And he commanded them, saying,“ This is the thing that you shall do: a third of you, who come in on the Sabbath and keep watch over the king’s house

Then he commanded them, saying,“ This is what you shall do: One-third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath shall be keeping watch over the king’s house,

And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do: a third part of you, that come in on the sabbath, shall be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

and commanded them,“ This is what you are to do: a third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath are to provide protection for the king’s palace.

And he commanded them, saying, This[ is] the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

He ordered them,“ This is what you must do. One third of the unit that is on duty during the Sabbath will guard the royal palace.

他們的親族，就是住在他們村莊裡的，每七天就要來和他們換班。

猶大的領袖聽見了這些事，就從王宮上到耶和華的殿，坐在耶和華殿裡新門的入口。

利未人自三十歲及以上的都被數點；按統計，他們男丁的數目，共有三萬八千人。其中有二萬四千人，監管耶和華殿宇的工作；有六千人作官長和審判官；有四千人作守門的，又有四千人用大衛所做（“大衛所做”原文作“我做”）的樂器讚美耶和華。大衛把利未的兒子革順、哥轄和米拉利的子孫，分成班次。

有一次，撒迦利亞在神面前按著班次執行祭司的職務，照祭司的慣例抽中了籤，進入主的聖殿燒香。

他們要看守會幕和聖所，以及看管他們在耶和華殿裡辦事的親族，亞倫的子孫。

耶和華對我說：“這門必須關閉，不可打開；任何人也不得從那裡進入；因為耶和華以色列的神已經從那裡進入，所以這門必須關閉。只有君王可以坐在裡面，在耶和華面前吃餅；他必須從門廊進入，也必須從原路出來。”

君王要從外面經這門的門廊進入，站在門框旁邊。祭司們要為他預備燔祭和平安祭。他要在門檻那裡敬拜，然後出去。這門不可關閉，直到晚上。每逢安息日和月朔，國中的人民要在這門口，在耶和華面前敬拜。

又因亞述王的緣故，他把耶和華殿裡為安息日而建造的廊子，和王從外邊進殿的廊子，從耶和華的殿內拆除。

桌上的食物、臣僕的座位、僕人的侍候、他們的服飾、王的酒政和王在耶和華的殿獻上的燔祭，就驚奇得不知所措。

大衛和以利亞撒的子孫撒督，以及以他瑪的子孫亞希米勒，把他們的親族分開班次，按著他們的職責服事。後來發現以利亞撒的子孫中，比以他瑪的子孫有更多作首領的，就把他們分開班次；以利亞撒子孫中作首領的，按著他們的家族有十六人；以他瑪子孫中作首領的，按著他們的家族有八人。以抽籤的方式平均地把他們分開，因為在以利亞撒的子孫中和以他瑪的子孫中都有人在聖所作領袖，以及在神面前作領袖。作書記的利未人拿坦業的兒子示瑪雅，在君王、領袖、撒督祭司、亞比亞他的兒子亞希米勒，以及眾祭司家族和利未家族的首領面前，把他們的名字記錄下來。在以利亞撒的子孫中，有一家族被選取了；在以他瑪的子孫中，也有一家族被選取了。

他又率領眾百夫長、迦利人、衛兵和當地所有的人民，護送王從耶和華的殿下來，經衛兵的門進入王宮。這樣，約阿施就坐上了王位。
