So they went in to make sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had posted eighty men outside with this warning:“ If one of you lets any of the men I am placing in your hands escape, it will be your life for his life.”

So they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Jehu had stationed 80 men outside. He warned them,“ I’m placing some men in your hands. Don’t let a single one of them escape. If you do, you will pay for his life with yours.”

Then they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed eighty men outside and said,“ The man who allows any of those whom I give into your hands to escape shall forfeit his life.”

So they were all inside the temple to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed eighty of his men outside the building and had warned them,“ If you let anyone escape, you will pay for it with your own life.”

Then they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed eighty men outside, and he warned them,“ Whoever allows any of the men I am placing in your hands to escape will forfeit his life for theirs.”

So they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had appointed for himself eighty men on the outside, and had said,“ If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escapes, whoever lets him escape, it shall be his life for the life of the other.”

And they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt- offerings. Now Jehu had appointed him fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I bring into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.

其餘的逃到亞弗城內；剩下的二萬七千人、城牆塌陷在他們身上了。便哈達也逃跑；進了城裏一間儘內屋。他的臣僕對他說：『看哪，我們聽說以色列家的王都是仁慈的王；讓我們腰束麻布，頭套繩索，出去投降以色列王吧；或者他會使你的性命存活着。』於是他們就腰束麻布，頭套繩索，來見以色列王、說：『王的僕人便哈達說：「求王使我的性命存活着。」』亞哈說：『他還活着麼？他是我的盟兄弟！』這些人正在觀察徵兆，便急忙就着他的話抓住機會說：『是王的盟兄弟便哈達！』王說：『去領他來』；便哈達出來見王，王請他上車。便哈達對王說：『我父親從你父親所奪取的城市我都要歸還；你可以在大馬色立街市，像我父親在撒瑪利亞立街市一樣。』亞哈說：『我就憑這個約放你走。』便和他立約，放他走。神言人們的弟子中有一個人憑着永恆主的話對他的同伴說：『你打我吧。』那人不肯打他。他就對那人說：『你既不聽永恆主的聲音，看吧，你一離開我，就必有獅子撲死你。』那人一離開他，果然有獅子遇見了他，把他撲死。神言人的弟子又遇見另一個人，就說：『你打我吧。』那人就打他，將他擊傷。那神言人就去，用頭巾蒙着眼來化裝，在路旁等着王。王從那裏經過，他向王哀叫說：『僕人出戰在戰陣之中、忽有人轉來，帶了一個人來交給我、說：「你看守這人；倘若遺失不見了，就要將你的性命去代替他的性命；不然，你就必須交出一擔銀子來。」僕人正在東忙西忙，那人竟不見了。』以色列王對他說：『你的案件正是這樣；你已直截判斷好了。』他急忙把蒙眼的頭巾除掉；以色列王就認得他是神言人中的人。他便對王說：『永恆主這麼說：「因為你將我要殺滅歸神的人從你手中放走，故此你的性命就必須代替他的性命，你的人民就必須代替他的人民。」』
