耶戶集民眾謂之曰、亞哈奉事巴力、尚未甚殷勤、耶戶將事之更殷勤、

Then Jehu brought all the people together and said to them,“ Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much.

犯了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪；他還以為輕，又娶了西頓王謁巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻，去事奉敬拜巴力，在撒馬利亞建造巴力的廟，在廟裏為巴力築壇。

弟兄們，我還有未盡的話：凡是真實的、可敬的、公義的、清潔的、可愛的、有美名的，若有甚麼德行，若有甚麼稱讚，這些事你們都要思念。

他行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，但不致像他父母所行的，因為除掉他父所造巴力的柱像。

為甚麼不說，我們可以作惡以成善呢？這是毀謗我們的人說我們有這話。這等人定罪是該當的。

你們要為神說不義的話嗎？為他說詭詐的言語嗎？

以利亞對他們說：「拿住巴力的先知，不容一人逃脫！」眾人就拿住他們。以利亞帶他們到基順河邊，在那裏殺了他們。

現在你當差遣人，招聚以色列眾人和事奉巴力的那四百五十個先知，並耶洗別所供養事奉亞舍拉的那四百個先知，使他們都上迦密山去見我。」

以利亞對眾民說：「作耶和華先知的只剩下我一個人；巴力的先知卻有四百五十個人。
