Then Jehu brought all the people together and said to them,“ Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much.

亞哈犯了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪，還以為是小事。他又娶了西頓王謁巴力的女兒耶洗別作妻子，去服事巴力，敬拜巴力。他在撒瑪利亞建築巴力廟，又在廟裡為巴力立了一座祭壇。

最後，弟兄們，凡是真實的、莊重的、公正的、純潔的、可愛的、聲譽好的，無論是甚麼美德，甚麼稱讚，這些事你們都應當思念。

他行耶和華看為惡的事，只是還不至於像他的父親和母親一樣，因為他除去了他父親所做的巴力神柱。

為甚麼不說：“我們去作惡以成善吧！”（有人毀謗我們，說我們講過這話。）這種人被定罪是理所當然的。

你們要為神說不義的言語嗎？你們要為他說詭詐的話嗎？

以利亞對他們說：“捉住巴力的先知，一個也不要讓他們逃脫。”於是眾人捉住他們。以利亞帶他們下到基順河邊，在那裡殺了他們。

現在你要派人去召集以色列眾人和四百五十個巴力的先知，以及耶洗別供養的四百個亞舍拉的先知，都上迦密山來見我。”

以利亞對眾人說：“耶和華的先知只剩下我一個，巴力的先知卻有四百五十個。
