亚哈犯了尼八的儿子耶罗波安所犯的罪，还以为是小事。他又娶了西顿王谒巴力的女儿耶洗别作妻子，去服事巴力，敬拜巴力。他在撒玛利亚建筑巴力庙，又在庙里为巴力立了一座祭坛。

最后，弟兄们，凡是真实的、庄重的、公正的、纯洁的、可爱的、声誉好的，无论是什么美德，什么称赞，这些事你们都应当思念。

他行耶和华看为恶的事，只是还不至于像他的父亲和母亲一样，因为他除去了他父亲所做的巴力神柱。

为什么不说：“我们去作恶以成善吧！”（有人毁谤我们，说我们讲过这话。）这种人被定罪是理所当然的。

你们要为神说不义的言语吗？你们要为他说诡诈的话吗？

以利亚对他们说：“捉住巴力的先知，一个也不要让他们逃脱。”于是众人捉住他们。以利亚带他们下到基顺河边，在那里杀了他们。

现在你要派人去召集以色列众人和四百五十个巴力的先知，以及耶洗别供养的四百个亚舍拉的先知，都上迦密山来见我。”

以利亚对众人说：“耶和华的先知只剩下我一个，巴力的先知却有四百五十个。
