he met some relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and asked,“ Who are you?” They said,“ We are relatives of Ahaziah, and we have come down to greet the families of the king and of the queen mother.”

he saw some people. They were relatives of Ahaziah, the king of Judah. Jehu asked them,“ Who are you?” They said,“ We are Ahaziah’s relatives. We’ve come down to visit the families of the king and of his mother.”

Jehu met the relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah, and he said,“ Who are you?” And they answered,“ We are the relatives of Ahaziah, and we came down to visit the royal princes and the sons of the queen mother.”

约兰于是回去，到耶斯列治伤，就是当他攻打亚兰王哈薛时，亚兰人在拉末击伤他的。犹大王约兰的儿子亚哈谢因为亚哈的儿子约兰病了，所以下到耶斯列去探望他。

约兰和他的祖先同睡；人把他埋葬在大卫城和他的祖先一起；他的儿子亚哈谢接续他作王。

他们上来攻打犹大，侵入境内，掠去了王宫的一切财物，又掳去了他的众子和妻妾；除了他最小的儿子约哈斯以外，没有给他留下一个儿子。

耶路撒冷的居民立了约兰的小儿子亚哈谢接续他作王；因为那些和阿拉伯人同来攻营的匪徒，把亚哈谢的哥哥全都杀了。这样，犹大王约兰的儿子亚哈谢就作了王。亚哈谢登基的时候是二十二岁（“二十二岁”原文作“四十二岁”；现参照古译本和王下8:26修译）；他在耶路撒冷作王一年。他的母亲名叫亚他利雅，是暗利的孙女。亚哈谢也随从亚哈家的道路，因为他母亲教唆他行恶。他行耶和华看为恶的事，好像亚哈家一样，因为他的父亲死了以后，亚哈家的人就教唆他，好使他灭亡。他随从了他们的计谋，和以色列王亚哈的儿子约兰一同到基列的拉末去，和亚兰王哈薛交战；亚兰人击伤了约兰。于是约兰回到耶斯列去，医治他在拉末和亚兰王交战的时候所受的伤。犹大王约兰的儿子亚哈谢，(“亚哈谢”：多数希伯来文抄本作“亚撒利雅”，可能是抄写之误或“亚哈谢”的另一种写法；现根据各古译本、十多份希伯来文抄本及王下8:29翻译)，因亚哈的儿子约兰病了，就下到耶斯列去看他。亚哈谢去见约兰，就遇了害，这原是出于神；因为他去到以后，就和约兰一同出去攻击宁示的孙子耶户。这耶户就是耶和华所膏的，为要除灭亚哈家。耶户讨伐亚哈家的罪的时候，遇见了犹大的众领袖和亚哈谢的兄弟的儿子，他们都是侍候亚哈谢的，耶户把他们都杀了。耶户追寻亚哈谢。那时，亚哈谢躲藏在撒玛利亚，有人捉住他，把他带到耶户那里，耶户就杀了他，却把他埋葬了，因为他们说：“他是约沙法的孙子；这约沙法是一心寻求耶和华的。”这样，亚哈谢的家没有一人有能力可以保持王权的。亚哈谢的母亲亚他利雅见自己的儿子死了，就起来杀尽犹大家中所有王族的后裔。

约兰就说：“备车。”他们就为他备了车。以色列王约兰和犹大王亚哈谢出城，他们各自乘坐战车出去见耶户，就在耶斯列人拿伯的田间遇上了他。约兰看见耶户的时候，就说：“耶户，平安吗？”耶户说：“你的母亲耶洗别的淫行和邪术这么多，还有平安吗？”约兰立刻把车调转过来逃跑，对亚哈谢说：“亚哈谢啊，反了！”耶户拉满弓，射中约兰的背；箭从他的心窝穿出，他就倒在自己的车上。耶户对副官毕甲说：“把他抬起来，丢在耶斯列人拿伯的田地里，因为我还记得你我一起驾车跟随他父亲亚哈的时候，耶和华曾宣告了这些有关亚哈的话：‘昨天我实在看见了拿伯的血和他儿子们的血（这是耶和华的宣告）；我要在这块田地上报应你（这是耶和华的宣告）。’现在你要按着耶和华的话，把他抬起来丢在田里。”犹大王亚哈谢看见这一切，就沿着通往伯哈干的路逃走。耶户紧追着他，说：“还有他！”他们就在靠近以伯莲的姑珥坡把他击伤在战车上。他逃到米吉多，就死在那里。
