he met some relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and asked,“ Who are you?” They said,“ We are relatives of Ahaziah, and we have come down to greet the families of the king and of the queen mother.”

he saw some people. They were relatives of Ahaziah, the king of Judah. Jehu asked them,“ Who are you?” They said,“ We are Ahaziah’s relatives. We’ve come down to visit the families of the king and of his mother.”

Jehu met the relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah, and he said,“ Who are you?” And they answered,“ We are the relatives of Ahaziah, and we came down to visit the royal princes and the sons of the queen mother.”

he met some relatives of King Ahaziah of Judah.“ Who are you?” he asked them. And they replied,“ We are relatives of King Ahaziah. We are going to visit the sons of King Ahab and the sons of the queen mother.”

Jehu met the relatives of King Ahaziah of Judah and asked,“ Who are you?” They answered,“ We’re Ahaziah’s relatives. We’ve come down to greet the king’s sons and the queen mother’s sons.”

Jehu encountered the relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah, and he said,“ Who are you?” And they answered,“ We are the relatives of Ahaziah; and we have come down to greet the sons of the king and the sons of the queen mother.”

耶路撒冷的居民擁立約蘭的小兒子亞哈謝為王。因為約蘭的其他兒子都被那些與阿拉伯人同來攻營的匪徒殺了，於是猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝做了王。亞哈謝二十二歲登基，在耶路撒冷執政一年。他母親叫亞她利雅，是暗利的孫女。他重蹈亞哈家的覆轍，因為他的母親唆使他作惡。他像亞哈家一樣做耶和華視為惡的事，因為他父親死後，亞哈家便唆使他作惡，使他走向滅亡。他照亞哈家的主意，與以色列王亞哈的兒子約蘭一起去基列的拉末征討亞蘭王哈薛。亞蘭人擊傷約蘭，約蘭便回到耶斯列療傷。猶大王亞哈謝前去探望他。亞哈謝去見約蘭，遇害身亡，這事出於上帝。原來他到那裡後便與約蘭去攻擊寧示的孫子耶戶。耶戶是耶和華膏立去毀滅亞哈家的人。耶戶討伐亞哈家的時候，遇見猶大眾首領和亞哈謝的眾侄兒，他們都是服侍亞哈謝的，耶戶就把他們全部殺掉。然後耶戶搜捕亞哈謝，民眾找到躲在撒瑪利亞的亞哈謝，把他押到耶戶那裡殺了。他們念他是全心尋求耶和華的約沙法的孫子，就把他埋葬了。這樣，亞哈謝家無人能保住王位。亞哈謝的母親亞她利雅見她兒子死了，便決定除掉猶大王室的後裔。

約蘭下令備車。以色列王約蘭和猶大王亞哈謝各乘自己的戰車去見耶戶。他們和耶戶在耶斯列人拿伯的田裡相遇。約蘭問他：「耶戶，你為平安而來嗎？」耶戶答道：「國中到處都是你母親耶洗別的偶像和邪術，怎能平安呢？」約蘭調轉車頭逃跑，向亞哈謝大喊：「亞哈謝，他反了！」耶戶張弓搭箭，射中約蘭的後背，箭穿透他的心臟，他倒斃在車上。耶戶對將領畢甲說：「你去把他丟在耶斯列人拿伯的田裡。還記得嗎？你我一起駕車跟隨他父親亞哈的時候，耶和華曾預言亞哈的事說，『我昨天看見拿伯和他兒子們被殺，我必使你在這塊田裡受到報應，這是耶和華說的。』現在你照耶和華的話，把他丟在這塊田裡吧。」猶大王亞哈謝見狀，就沿著通往伯哈干的道路逃跑。耶戶在後面追，並大喊：「射死他！」他們在以伯蓮附近的姑珥坡射傷了亞哈謝。他逃到米吉多後，傷重身亡。
