Now there were in Samaria seventy sons of the house of Ahab. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria: to the officials of Jezreel, to the elders and to the guardians of Ahab’s children. He said,

Ahab’s royal family in the city of Samaria had a total of 70 sons. Jehu wrote some letters to the officials of the city. He also sent them to the elders there. And he sent them to the people who took care of Ahab’s children. Jehu said,

Omri rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria. His son Ahab became king in his place.

Then the wicked men testified against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying,“ Naboth has cursed God and the king!” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.Then they sent word to Jezebel:“ Naboth has been stoned to death.”

Then Jehu looked for Ahaziah, and Jehu’s soldiers captured him( he was hiding in Samaria). So they brought Ahaziah to Jehu, and they killed him. The soldiers buried him, for they said,“ He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat who sought the LORD with all his heart.” So no one from the house of Ahaziah had the strength to rule the kingdom.
