Now Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers, saying to them,“ Go and consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if I will recover from this injury.”

Ahaziah had fallen through the window of his upstairs room in Samaria. He had hurt himself. So he sent messengers to ask the god named Baal- Zebub for advice. Baal- Zebub was the god of the city of Ekron. Ahaziah said to the messengers,“ Go and ask Baal- Zebub whether I will get well again.”

One day Israel’s new king, Ahaziah, fell through the latticework of an upper room at his palace in Samaria and was seriously injured. So he sent messengers to the temple of Baal zebub, the god of Ekron, to ask whether he would recover.

Then he said to him,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.’”

Then Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying,“ The man of God has come here.”And the king said to Hazael,“ Take a present in your hand, and go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord by him, saying,‘ shall I recover from this disease?’”So Hazael went to meet him and took a present with him, of every good thing of Damascus, forty camel-loads; and he came and stood before him, and said,“ Your son Ben-Hadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying,‘ shall I recover from this disease?’”And Elisha said to him,“ Go, say to him,‘ You shall certainly recover.’ However the Lord has shown me that he will really die.”

It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

But some of them said,“ He casts out demons by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

Have the gods of the nations delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar?

because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David.

and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands— wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them.

But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite,“ Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them,‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?’

So they said to him,“ A man came up to meet us, and said to us,‘ Go, return to the king who sent you, and say to him,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.’”’ ”

Now when the Pharisees heard it they said,“ This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them:“ Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.

And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.

Is it not destruction for the wicked, And disaster for the workers of iniquity?

Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. So it was, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying,“ They have brought the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people!”

“ The mother of Sisera looked through the window, And cried out through the lattice,‘ Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why tarries the clatter of his chariots?’

Now a certain man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot,“ Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am wounded.”

Will you not possess whatever Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whatever the Lord our God takes possession of before us, we will possess.

Also take with you ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him; he will tell you what will become of the child.”

My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall; He is looking through the windows, Gazing through the lattice.

behold, the Lord will strike your people with a serious affliction— your children, your wives, and all your possessions;and you will become very sick with a disease of your intestines, until your intestines come out by reason of the sickness, day by day.
