他要救他們脫離別人的壓迫和暴力，因為他愛惜他們的生命。

不過哪怕是犧牲性命，我也在所不辭，，只盼望我能跑完當跑的路程，完成主耶穌交託給我的使命，為上帝充滿恩典的福音做見證。

掃羅說：「我犯罪了。我兒大衛，你回來吧，我不會再傷害你，因為你今日保存了我的性命。我真是糊塗，犯了大錯。」

因為生命的贖價高昂，無人付得起，

因為想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但為了我而失去生命的，必得到生命。人若賺得全世界，卻喪失自己的生命，又有什麼益處呢？人還能拿什麼換回自己的生命呢？

因為娼妓會使人傾家蕩產，淫婦會獵殺人寶貴的生命。

以利亞說：「我若是上帝的僕人，願火從天降下燒死你和你的五十個部下。」火立刻從天降下，燒死了五十夫長和他的五十個部下。亞哈謝王又派一個五十夫長率領五十人去以利亞那裡，五十夫長對以利亞說：「上帝的僕人啊，王命令你馬上下來。」

耶和華的眼目顧惜祂聖民的死亡。
