At this the king sent to Elijah another captain with his fifty men. The captain said to him,“ Man of God, this is what the king says,‘ Come down at once!’”

Again the king sent to him another captain of fifty men with his fifty. And he answered and said to him,“ O man of God, this is the king’s order,‘ Come down quickly!’”

So the king sent another captain with fifty men. The captain said to him,“ Man of God, the king demands that you come down at once.”

So the king sent another captain with his fifty men to Elijah. He took in the situation and announced,“ Man of God, this is what the king says:‘ Come down immediately!’”

So the king again sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he said to him,“ You man of God, this is what the king says:‘ Come down quickly!’ ”

And again he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

So the king sent another captain of 50 with his 50 men to Elijah. He took in the situation and announced,“ Man of God, this is what the king says:‘ Come down immediately!’”

Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

The king sent another captain and his fifty soldiers to retrieve Elijah. He went up and told him,“ Prophet, this is what the king says,‘ Come down at once!’”

Again he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. He answered him,“ Man of God, the king has said,‘ Come down quickly!’”

And watch: if it goes up the road to its own territory, to Beth Shemesh, then He has done us this great evil. But if not, then we shall know that it is not His hand that struck us— it happened to us by chance.”

O Lord, are not Your eyes on the truth? You have stricken them, But they have not grieved; You have consumed them, But they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to return.

Also the schemes of the schemer are evil; He devises wicked plans To destroy the poor with lying words, Even when the needy speaks justice.

Then the king said to the guards who stood about him,“ Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled and did not tell it to me.” But the servants of the king would not lift their hands to strike the priests of the Lord.And the king said to Doeg,“ You turn and kill the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck the priests, and killed on that day eighty-five men who wore a linen ephod.Also Nob, the city of the priests, he struck with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and nursing infants, oxen and donkeys and sheep— with the edge of the sword.

They answered Him,“ Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them,“ I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.Now when He said to them,“ I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.Then He asked them again,“ Whom are you seeking?” And they said,“ Jesus of Nazareth.”Jesus answered,“ I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,”that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke,“ Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none.”Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.So Jesus said to Peter,“ Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”Then the detachment of troops and the captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him.

On the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, saying,“ You have killed the people of the Lord.”

saying,“ What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.”

Lord, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see. But they will see and be ashamed For their envy of people; Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him.And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying,“ Prophesy! Who is the one who struck You?”

Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

If a ruler pays attention to lies, All his servants become wicked.
