Elijah responded to the captain,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

Elijah answered the captain,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men.

Elijah answered the captain,“ If I’m really a man of God, may fire come down from heaven! May it burn up you and your 50 men!” Then fire came down from heaven. It burned up the captain and his men.

But Elijah answered the captain of fifty,“ If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

But Elijah replied to the captain,“ If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and destroy you and your fifty men!” Then fire fell from heaven and killed them all.

But Elijah replied to the captain of fifty,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

So Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty,“ If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” And fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

Elijah replied to the captain,“ If I am indeed a prophet, may fire come down from the sky and consume you and your fifty soldiers!” Fire then came down from the sky and consumed him and his fifty soldiers.

Elijah answered to the captain of fifty,“ If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from the sky, and consume you and your fifty!” Then fire came down from the sky, and consumed him and his fifty.

When the disciples James and John saw this, they said,“ Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?”

If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and consumes their enemies; if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way.

At the time for offering the evening sacrifice, the prophet Elijah approached the altar and said,“ LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, today let it be known that you are God in Israel and I am your servant, and that at your word I have done all these things.Answer me, LORD! Answer me so that this people will know that you, the LORD, are God and that you have turned their hearts back.”Then the LORD’s fire fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

for our God is a consuming fire.

He was still speaking when another messenger came and reported,“ God’s fire fell from heaven. It burned the sheep and the servants and devoured them, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking up the path, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, chanting,“ Go up, baldy! Go up, baldy!”He turned around, looked at them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the children.

“ Do not touch my anointed ones, or harm my prophets.”

Fire also came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were presenting the incense.

Fire blazed throughout their assembly; flames consumed the wicked.

Since the king’s command was so urgent and the furnace extremely hot, the raging flames killed those men who carried up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

The king then gave the command, and those men who had maliciously accused Daniel were brought and thrown into the lions’ den— they, their children, and their wives. They had not reached the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

Then Moses said,“ This is how you will know that the LORD sent me to do all these things and that it was not of my own will:If these men die naturally as all people would, and suffer the fate of all, then the LORD has not sent me.But if the LORD brings about something unprecedented, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them along with all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into Sheol, then you will know that these men have despised the LORD.”

Now the people began complaining openly before the LORD about hardship. When the LORD heard, his anger burned, and fire from the LORD blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.

But they kept ridiculing God’s messengers, despising his words, and scoffing at his prophets, until the LORD’s wrath was so stirred up against his people that there was no remedy.

After Herod had searched and did not find him, he interrogated the guards and ordered their execution. Then Herod went down from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.

He exclaimed,“ Look! I see four men, not tied, walking around in the fire unharmed; and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

This is why I am sending you prophets, sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.Truly I tell you, all these things will come on this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

But Micaiah said,“ If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

“ He will completely destroy those terrible men,” they told him,“ and lease his vineyard to other farmers who will give him his fruit at the harvest.”

“ Ananias,” Peter asked,“ why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds of the land?Wasn’t it yours while you possessed it? And after it was sold, wasn’t it at your disposal? Why is it that you planned this thing in your heart? You have not lied to people but to God.”When he heard these words, Ananias dropped dead, and a great fear came on all who heard.The young men got up, wrapped his body, carried him out, and buried him.About three hours later, his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.“ Tell me,” Peter asked her,“ did you sell the land for this price?”“ Yes,” she said,“ for that price.”Then Peter said to her,“ Why did you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”Instantly she dropped dead at his feet. When the young men came in, they found her dead, carried her out, and buried her beside her husband.
