萬一馬其頓人與吾偕來時、見爾等無所準備、則不但爾等、即吾儕亦將汗顏無地矣！

For if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we— not to say anything about you— would be ashamed of having been so confident.

Suppose people from Macedonia come with me and find out that you are not prepared. Then we, as well as you, would be ashamed of being so certain.

Otherwise, if some Macedonians come with me and find that you are not ready, we would be humiliated— to say nothing of you— for being so confident.

We would be embarrassed— not to mention your own embarrassment— if some Macedonian believers came with me and found that you weren’t ready after all I had told them!

Now we make known to you, brothers and sisters, the grace of God given to the churches of Macedonia,that during a severe ordeal of suffering, their abundant joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in the wealth of their generosity.For I testify, they gave according to their means and beyond their means. They did so voluntarily,begging us with great earnestness for the blessing and fellowship of helping the saints.And they did this not just as we had hoped, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and to us by the will of God.

because I know your eagerness to help. I keep boasting to the Macedonians about this eagerness of yours, that Achaia has been ready to give since last year, and your zeal to participate has stirred up most of them.

What I am saying with this boastful confidence I do not say the way the Lord would. Instead it is, as it were, foolishness.

Therefore show them openly before the churches the proof of your love and of our pride in you.

For Macedonia and Achaia are pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.
