不過我還打發那幾位弟兄去，好叫我們在這方面所誇獎你們的不至於落了空，好叫你們照我屢次所說的豫備好了。

But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

故此我們力勸提多說：他既怎樣把這捐獻恩惠的事提倡並開辦，就該怎樣在你們中間辦成。

論到給聖徒的捐款、我從前怎樣吩咐加拉太的眾教會，你們也要怎樣行。每逢安息週的第一日、你們各人總要照自己所得的贏餘、放在身邊儲藏着，免得我來時捐款才要現湊。我來到的時候、你們以書信稱許誰，我就打發誰，把你們的恩惠帶到耶路撒冷去。倘若我也值得去，他們就可以和我一同去。

我從前就是對他誇獎你們甚麼，也不覺得慚愧。不，我們怎樣真真實實將一切事對你們說了，我們對提多所誇獎你們的也怎樣見得是真實。

他固然是接受了勸告，到底還是自己很熱切，就自願自動出發往你們那裏去了。我們還打發一位弟兄和他一同去；這人在福音上所得的稱讚已傳遍了眾教會。不但如此，他還蒙眾教會所選立、在我們所經管這恩惠的事上做我們的旅伴，以增加主的榮耀，並成全我們所願作的熱心。這就可以避免人在我們所經管這豐裕的博施上挑剔我們。因為我們籌謀行為之美善，不但在主面前，也在人面前。我們還打發一位弟兄和他們一同去；這人是我們在許多事上屢次試驗為熱切的；如今他因為對你們多有信任的心，就多多更加熱切了。論到提多、他是我本人的契友，也是向你們做我的同工；論到我們那兩位弟兄呢、他們是眾教會的使者，是基督的光榮。所以你們要在眾教會面前、向他們表顯你們愛心的明證，以及我們所誇獎你們之事的明證。

你應當提醒眾人要順服執政的、掌權的，要服從權柄，對各樣善事、要隨時準備着行。

萬一有馬其頓人和我一同去，見你們沒有豫備，在這信任的事上、我們就會覺得慚愧，你們呢、更不用說了。所以我以為必須勸那幾位弟兄先到你們那裏去，把你們從前所應許的慨捐先湊好了，讓這一項齊備了，可以顯出是慨捐，而不是我的強取。
