Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:

今我遣兄弟、使爾有備、如我所言、免我為爾之誇歸於虛也、

吾遣兄弟、使爾有備、如余所言、恐吾讚爾之言、或歸於虛、

我遣兄弟、欲使爾有備、如我所言、免我於此事為爾所誇者歸於空虛、

吾今之所以先派兄弟者、亦欲爾等有備、庶幾吾所誇獎爾等之事、不成子虛烏有；

But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

But I am sending the brothers. Then our bragging about you in this matter will have a good reason. You will be ready, just as I said you would be.

But I am sending the brothers so that our boasting about you may not prove empty in this matter, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

But I am sending these brothers to be sure you really are ready, as I have been telling them, and that your money is all collected. I don’t want to be wrong in my boasting about you.

But I have sent the brothers that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared,

Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.

Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.Upon the first[ day] of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as[ God] hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by[ your] letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me.

For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which[ I made] before Titus, is found a truth.

For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise[ is] in the gospel throughout all the churches;And not[ that] only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and[ declaration of] your ready mind:Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which[ I have] in you.Whether[ any do enquire] of Titus,[ he is] my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren[ be enquired of, they are] the messengers of the churches,[ and] the glory of Christ.Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we( that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as[ a matter of] bounty, and not as[ of] covetousness.
