吾今之所以先派兄弟者、亦欲爾等有備、庶幾吾所誇獎爾等之事、不成子虛烏有；

But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

以是吾儕亦鼓勵提多繼續向爾等勸募、俾成爾等之美德。

為聖徒捐貲之事、予曩所訓示加拉太諸教會者、爾亦當遵例行之。每週首日、爾等每人各按其經濟能力、提出若干、各自貯之；務使予來時、不復有臨時勸募之必要。予一抵爾處、即擬備函派人、將爾之嘉惠送至耶路撒冷。至於人選、請爾定之；若須予親往、彼等伴我同行可也。

蓋曩者吾曾誇爾等之美於提多之前矣；爾等實未使我抱愧也。然則吾儕所誇耀於提多之前者、皆真實不虛、正如吾儕向爾等所直言不諱者、亦皆真實不虛也。

彼之赴爾處、固因吾儕之勸駕、要亦出其自願、切欲一行。與彼同行之兄弟、乃吾所遣發、亦為一名滿諸教會之傳道者；此君且原為諸會所推選、使與吾儕同行、協力勸募、以歸榮於主、而表吾人區區之心。如此則吾儕所經手之善事、可免任何人之指摘。蓋吾人作事、務求光明磊落、上可對主、下可對人也。吾儕尚遣一兄弟與彼二人偕行、此君為吾儕所深識、在過去任事甚見熱心、此次更為熱心；以對爾等滿懷厚望也。若言提多、則為吾友、亦為爾等之故、向與吾同勞者也。至於兩位兄弟、則奉諸聖會之使命、亦基督之榮光也。是故極望爾等善遇之、以發揚爾等之愛德、而證吾儕所誇耀於爾等者之非子虛、亦所以副諸聖會之盛意耳。

望汝提醒眾人、務宜順服官長有司從命如流、奉行百善、

萬一馬其頓人與吾偕來時、見爾等無所準備、則不但爾等、即吾儕亦將汗顏無地矣！因此吾欲諸兄弟先赴爾處、預為之地、以成全爾等之美意。蓋此事實為美舉、而非有所勉強也。
