It is not that there may be relief for others and hardship for you, but it is a question of equality—

这不是说要别人脱离困境，要你们陷入困境，乃是要均平。

其实我这样说不是为了让别人轻松、你们为难，而是为了公平——

這不是說要別人脫離困境，要你們陷入困境，乃是要均平。

這不是說、別人該手頭鬆，而你們該手頭緊，

其實我這樣說不是為了讓別人輕鬆、你們為難，而是為了公平——

非欲彼逸而爾艱、

我不欲彼豐而爾嗇、

我勸捐、非欲彼安而爾苦、乃欲均平、今以爾之有餘、補彼之不足、

夫吾豈欲加重爾等之累、以釋他人之肩耶？

Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality.

We don’t want others to have it easy at your expense. We want things to be equal.

For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness

Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality.

For there was not a needy person among them, because all those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,

for Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.Yes, they were pleased, and indeed are indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual benefits, then they are obligated to minister to Jews in material needs.
