I do not say this to condemn you; I have said before that you have such a place in our hearts that we would live or die with you.

I don’t say this to judge you. I have told you before that you have an important place in our hearts. We would live or die with you.

God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,

This is why I write these things when I am absent, that when I come I may not have to be harsh in my use of authority— the authority the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.

So even though I wrote to you, it was neither on account of the one who did the wrong nor on account of the injured party, but rather that before God you could see for yourselves how devoted to us you are.

Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do!

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.

For I wrote you out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you.If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you to some extent— not to put it too severely.

I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children.Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. If I love you more, will you love me less?

so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.
