我這樣說，並不是要定你們的罪，因為我曾經說過，我們心裡常惦記你們，甚至願意和你們生死與共。

哥林多人啊！我們對你們推心置腹，開誠佈公，毫無保留，只是你們自己心胸太窄。

路得說：「不要逼我撇你而去。你往哪裡去，我也要往哪裡去；你住在哪裡，我也要住在哪裡；你的同胞就是我的同胞，你的上帝就是我的上帝；你死在哪裡，我也死在哪裡、葬在哪裡。只有死才能把我們分開。否則，願耶和華重重地懲罰我！」

上帝可以作證，我是怎樣以基督耶穌的慈愛之心想念你們。我所祈求的就是：你們的愛心隨著屬靈知識的增加和辨別力的提高而日益增長，

我寫這封信是預先警告你們，免得我到你們當中的時候，必須運用基督給我的權柄嚴厲地對待你們。基督賜給我這權柄是為了造就人，不是毀壞人。

因此，雖然我給你們寫過信，但並非為了那犯錯的人或那受害的人而寫的，而是為了讓你們在上帝面前看到自己對我們所存的熱心。

為什麼呢？難道我不愛你們嗎？上帝知道我愛你們！

你們自己就是我們的推薦信，寫在了我們心坎上，眾所周知，人人可讀。

我萬分難過、淚流滿面地給你們寫了前一封信，並非要使你們憂傷，而是要你們明白我是多麼疼愛你們。那個令人痛心的人與其說使我憂傷，倒不如說使你們大家都有幾分憂傷。我只說幾分憂傷，是怕說得太重，他受不了。

我之所以寫這些事，並非是叫你們羞愧，而是像勸誡我親愛的兒女一樣勸誡你們。雖然有千萬老師將基督的事教導你們，但父親並不多，因為我藉著福音在基督耶穌裡成為你們的父親。

為了你們的靈魂，我甘願付出，包括自己的生命。難道我越愛你們，就越得不到你們的愛嗎？

我們深愛你們，對你們有深厚的感情，不僅樂意把上帝的福音傳給你們，甚至把生命給你們也在所不惜。
