You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.Therefore do not become partners with them;for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light( for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,“ Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

“ You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest the whole yield be forfeited, the crop that you have sown and the yield of the vineyard.You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.You shall not wear cloth of wool and linen mixed together.

But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night.But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

“ You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material.

Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies.

I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites.I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked.

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.But that is not the way you learned Christ!—

And Elijah came near to all the people and said,“ How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.

“ If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

and when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction. You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them.You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons,

but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did.

Judah has been faithless, and abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the Lord, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.

Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man,

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—

that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.

so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you;

An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.

which you commanded by your servants the prophets, saying,‘ The land that you are entering, to take possession of it, is a land impure with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations that have filled it from end to end with their uncleanness.Therefore do not give your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land and leave it for an inheritance to your children forever.’

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil.

After these things had been done, the officials approached me and said,“ The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands with their abominations, from the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.For they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has mixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.”

They pledged themselves to put away their wives, and their guilt offering was a ram of the flock for their guilt.

A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.

As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.

Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.

and you take of their daughters for your sons, and their daughters whore after their gods and make your sons whore after their gods.

On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. And in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God,for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them— yet our God turned the curse into a blessing.As soon as the people heard the law, they separated from Israel all those of foreign descent.

Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it into the house of Dagon and set it up beside Dagon.And when the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and put him back in his place.

If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god,would not God discover this? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.A perverse heart shall be far from me; I will know nothing of evil.Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure.

Do not sweep my soul away with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men,in whose hands are evil devices, and whose right hands are full of bribes.

When they were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them.

Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness.My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver.

But Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

In those days also I saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab.And half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod, and they could not speak the language of Judah, but only the language of each people.And I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. And I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying,“ You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves.Did not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? Among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was beloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin.
