Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient because of these things.Therefore, do not become their partners.For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light—for the fruit of the light consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth—testing what is pleasing to the Lord.Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret.Everything exposed by the light is made visible,for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Do not plant your vineyard with two types of seed; otherwise, the entire harvest, both the crop you plant and the produce of the vineyard, will be defiled.Do not plow with an ox and a donkey together.Do not wear clothes made of both wool and linen.

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the dark, for this day to surprise you like a thief.For you are all children of light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or the darkness.So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled and put on the armor of faith and love, and a helmet of the hope of salvation.

Don’t make friends with an angry person, and don’t be a companion of a hot-tempered one,

I wrote to you in a letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.

so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world,

The night is nearly over, and the day is near; so let us discard the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.Let us walk with decency, as in the daytime: not in carousing and drunkenness; not in sexual impurity and promiscuity; not in quarreling and jealousy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires.

I am a friend to all who fear you, to those who keep your precepts.

An unjust person is detestable to the righteous, and one whose way is upright is detestable to the wicked.

you gave through your servants the prophets, saying,“ The land you are entering to possess is an impure land. The surrounding peoples have filled it from end to end with their uncleanness by their impurity and detestable practices.So do not give your daughters to their sons in marriage or take their daughters for your sons. Never pursue their welfare or prosperity, so that you will be strong, eat the good things of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.”

The world cannot hate you, but it does hate me because I testify about it— that its works are evil.

After these things had been done, the leaders approached me and said,“ The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the surrounding peoples whose detestable practices are like those of the Canaanites, Hethites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites.Indeed, the Israelite men have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed has become mixed with the surrounding peoples. The leaders and officials have taken the lead in this unfaithfulness!”

They pledged to send their wives away, and being guilty, they offered a ram from the flock for their guilt;

A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to anyone she wants— only in the Lord.

As for the holy people who are in the land, they are the noble ones. All my delight is in them.

Didn’t God make them one and give them a portion of spirit? What is the one seeking? Godly offspring. So watch yourselves carefully, so that no one acts treacherously against the wife of his youth.

There was not a king like him among many nations. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel, yet foreign women drew him into sin.
