My confident hope is that I will in no way be ashamed but that with complete boldness, even now as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether I live or die.For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.Now if I am to go on living in the body, this will mean productive work for me, yet I don’t know which I prefer:I feel torn between the two, because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far,but it is more vital for your sake that I remain in the body.

Therefore we are always full of courage, and we know that as long as we are alive here on earth we are absent from the Lord–

I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago( whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows) was caught up to the third heaven.And I know that this man( whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows)

So then whether we are alive or away, we make it our ambition to please him.

I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith!Finally the crown of righteousness is reserved for me. The Lord, the righteous Judge, will award it to me in that day– and not to me only, but also to all who have set their affection on his appearing.

But I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.You guide me by your wise advice, and then you will lead me to a position of honor.Whom do I have in heaven but you? I desire no one but you on earth.My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability.

since I know that my tabernacle will soon be removed, because our Lord Jesus Christ revealed this to me.Indeed, I will also make every effort that, after my departure, you have a testimony of these things.

And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that where I am you may be too.

Because of this day, the heavens will be burned up and dissolve, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze!

So I said to him,“ My lord, you know the answer.” Then he said to me,“ These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb!For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve him day and night in his temple, and the one seated on the throne will shelter them.They will never go hungry or be thirsty again, and the sun will not beat down on them, nor any burning heat,because the Lamb in the middle of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
