For whether we are beside ourselves, it is unto God; or whether we are of sober mind, it is unto you.

If we are“ out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.

Are we“ out of our minds,” as some people say? If so, it is because we want to serve God. Does what we say make sense? If so, it is because we want to serve you.

For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.

If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit.

For if we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.

For if we have lost our minds, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you.

For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you.

And as he thus made his defence, Festus saith with a loud voice, Paul, thou art mad; thy much learning is turning thee mad.But Paul saith, I am not mad, most excellent Festus; but speak forth words of truth and soberness.

I am become foolish: ye compelled me; for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing was I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I am nothing.

For if I should desire to glory, I shall not be foolish; for I shall speak the truth: but I forbear, lest any man should account of me above that which he seeth me to be, or heareth from me.

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor.Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling- place;and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

And David said unto Michal, It was before Jehovah, who chose me above thy father, and above all his house, to appoint me prince over the people of Jehovah, over Israel: therefore will I play before Jehovah.And I will be yet more vile than this, and will be base in mine own sight: but of the handmaids of whom thou hast spoken, of them shall I be had in honor.

For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but so to think as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to each man a measure of faith.

Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

So although I wrote unto you, I wrote not for his cause that did the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be made manifest unto you in the sight of God.

For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:but even as we have been approved of God to be intrusted with the gospel, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God who proveth our hearts.For neither at any time were we found using words of flattery, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness, God is witness;nor seeking glory of men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.But we were gentle in the midst of you, as when a nurse cherisheth her own children:even so, being affectionately desirous of you, we were well pleased to impart unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were become very dear to us.For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and righteously and unblamably we behaved ourselves toward you that believe:as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,
